LEXINGTON, Ohio – One groundbreaking innovator has joined another as AERO ™ Sustainable Paint Technology has signed on as a partner to the Team USA Scholarship to provide support for promising young American racers.

Established in 1990 by motorsports journalist and broadcaster Jeremy Shaw with a young Jimmy Vasser as the first-ever selectee, the Team USA Scholarship has supported a lengthy roster of racers who are now successful names in the sport, including NTT IndyCar Series contenders Josef Newgarden and Spencer Pigot, plus Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires front-runners Oliver Askew (Indy Lights), Kyle Kirkwood (Indy Pro 2000) and Braden Eves (USF2000), all of whom will be in action this weekend at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

The principal aim of the Team USA Scholarship is to provide opportunities for young American race car drivers at an early stage in their careers. This includes funded drives and introductions to influential figures within the sport who will provide valuable insight and contacts to assist their progress up the racing “ladder.”

Announced as part of the Honda Indy 200 IndyCar event at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, the new support from AERO (http://www.rethinkpaint.com) sees the brand join a wide range of companies and individuals including the Road Racing Drivers Club, Doug Mockett & Company, Cooper Tire, Mazda, Honda Performance Development, Chip Ganassi Racing Teams, Team Penske, Sparco and Bell Helmets that have signed to support the potential in the young racers.

“This is a big day for everyone who supports the American auto racing scene,” said Shaw. “To have a forward-thinking industry leader such as AERO ™  Sustainable Paint Technology come onboard with us is extremely satisfying and will allow us to offer more opportunities for some very talented and deserving American drivers. I would like to offer a big thank-you to Jim McGuire for making this possible.”

AERO ™ Sustainable Paint Technology is an environmentally responsible paint application that eliminates nearly all CO2, provides a considerable weight advantage to traditional paint application, and also offers aerodynamic advantages as well.

The innovation has been a part of proven winners on the track including the recent breakthrough performances of the Mazda DPi IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar program that adopted the technology ahead of the 2019 season.

“What Jeremy (Shaw) has done year after year is incredible, with scouting the talent that is out there, giving them a chance that they might not otherwise have, and then frankly letting them go out and fight for it. I think it is a great program and the results through the years back that up,” said AERO founder Jim McGuire, who is an active and successful racer himself. “We are thrilled to sign on, and especially to do so at Mid-Ohio, which is just down the road from our corporate headquarters in Columbus.”
