Brands Hatch, England (October 26, 2012) – Man, what a whirlwind this has been for me! First to have been chosen as one of three drivers for Team USA, then to go to Atlanta and win the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites powered by Mazda Championship at Petit Le Mans and now to finally be over here in England racing at Brands Hatch for Team USA is all so unreal!  None of these events have really sunken in yet. It is truly a dream come true. But most of all I feel honored and so privileged to be here and do what I love to do – race!

I left straight from Atlanta on Saturday night, so I was able to watch some of the Petit Le Mans and also got to sit in the ESPN3 commentator’s booth with Jeremy Shaw and John Hindhaugh and speak on air a little bit. That was very cool! I arrived in London on Sunday morning and Mrs. Dempsey was nice enough to pick me up from the airport and take me directly to the track where I was lucky enough to catch Matthew Brabham’s last race. I had a couple of days of some slight jet lag, but luckily we didn’t actually get on track until Wednesday so I was feeling fine by then.

Being born and raised in sunny south Florida, I am not accustomed to this cold and constant rainy weather. I haven’t seen the sun since I arrived! It doesn’t even need to rain to cause the track to be wet; the heavy fog also does a great job of creating the damp conditions. But I have to say that I am extremely excited to get this much practice in the rain! In my four years of racing, including the karting, I haven’t really spent that much time racing in the rain. This is a much needed experience for me and my career in racing.

The first day of practice went well until it was cut short due to a sheered A-arm bolt. So I was only able to get a half day of practice but the next day we bounced back and topped  the charts for just about the entire day. The car is feeling great.

The entire Cliff Dempsey Racing team is awesome and they work well together. Mrs. Dempsey is an amazing cook and takes great care of all of us like we are her own. Tomorrow is the official practice day and I can’t wait to get back on track. I am really hoping to bring home some solid results for Team USA!! Wish me luck!
