\nDublin, Ohio \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Talented Californian Paul Edwards is the latest in a long line of promising young American drivers to have been awarded a Team USA Scholarship. The 20-year-old from Santa Mara, Calif., will contest the final three rounds of this year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Formula Opel European Union Series with the renowned Motaworld Racing team.<\/p>\n
Edwards has been plying his trade to excellent effect in Europe for the past couple of years, but his career had reached a crossroads earlier this summer when his plans to join the British Formula Renault Sport series fell apart at the last moment.<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153This year was looking pretty bleak, so I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m extremely grateful for the Scholarship\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s help,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Edwards, who played a starring role in last year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Formula Ford World Finals at Brands Hatch, where he also carried the Team USA colors. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Motaworld is a top team and this is a great opportunity to get my career back on track.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
Edwards will contest three double-header race weekends at Zandvoort, Holland, on September 4-6; Mondello Park, Ireland, on September 18-20; and then the series finale \u00e2\u20ac\u201c a supporting event to the Luxembourg Formula 1 Grand Prix \u00e2\u20ac\u201c at the Nurburgring, Germany, September 25-27.<\/p>\n
